Traffic was stopped and customers were forced to stay inside nearby businesses on Thursday morning as police dealt with a suspect armed with an unusual weapon on Thursday morning.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a man armed with a shower curtain rod in a parking lot near Blue Diamond and Decatur. The man had reportedly been threatening people with his makeshift weapon.

LVMPD reports that the man did not actually attack anybody.

When police arrived, they kept the area clear and spoke to the man, eventually convincing him to put down the shower curtain rod. He was taken into custody shortly after 11 a.m.

Police say the man may have been having a mental health crisis, so it is currently unknown whether the man will be charged, or transported into medical care.
