The NFL draft begins Thursday in Philadelphia. As the Raiders are finishing out their time in Oakland, the team's execs are making their excitement about moving her to Las Vegas clear.
The Raiders will be in town on Saturday, holding a draft event right in front of the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign.
Raiders representatives and special guests will make picks in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh rounds from the iconic Las Vegas landmark. The event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will include Raiders alumni, Raiderettes, Nevada State and Clark County officials and local businesses.
While the Welcome sign will remain open to the public during the event, the parking lot will be closed from midnight to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 29. Public parking will be available at the nearby Bali Hai Golf Club parking lot at 5160 S. Las Vegas Boulevard.
The travel lanes closest to the median for both northbound and southbound traffic will also be closed from midnight to 6 p.m. Saturday.
Today, the first round of the NFL draft begins. The Raiders have the number 24 pick overall. If you're feeling lucky, you may cash in on their choice.
For the first time ever, sports books here will take bets on draft picks.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board is allowing the prop bets this year -- a big deal, especially in anticipation of our city getting an NFL team for the first time ever.
A hint: the Raiders are expected to go defense-heavy, so get those bets in!
News 3 sports director Randy Howe will be with the raiders for the draft, and will have live reports from Oakland on Thursday and Friday.
